Zucco, Carole Ann (Wilson) died the morning of June 4, 2021. Born June 22, 1941 in Windber, PA, daughter of William G. and Ann L. (Warshel) Wilson. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert J., sister-in-law Catherine Wilson and great niece Amy Wilson. Survived by brother William G. Wilson; children Jodi Lynne, Stoystown, PA; Jami Dianne (Bradley) Janidlo and their children, Ethan and Emily; and David Brian (Kathleen Martella) and their children, Ava and Drew; and nephews and niece Robert Wilson (Marie Weisnewski), Thomas Wilson (Jan Drugo), and Terri (Robert Lentz) as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also survived by former husband, Donato Zucco. Carole was a 1959 graduate of Windber Area High School and a 1963 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education/ English. Carole taught in the Richland School District, Greater Johnstown School District and the Adult Education Department of Greater Johnstown Area Vocational-Technical School for many years. As a second career, she became a Certified Prevention Specialist for Drug and Alcohol Programs in Cambria County provided by Mercy Hospital. In 1992 she was selected to serve as the Single County Authority for Drug and Alcohol Services for Cambria County where she and other members of the Pennsylvania Association of Drug and Alcohol Administrators (PACDAA) from across the state worked closely with the PA Department of Health to develop and implement substance abuse policies and administer public funding, a position she held until her retirement in 2003. Carole was a devout and longtime member of Dunmyer Lutheran Church, where she served multiple terms as a Council member and President, Lector, Eucharistic minister, Sacristan, Choir member, and Sunday School teacher. She will be remembered for her love of music having sung since childhood in many groups and choirs; for her entertaining skills, especially the 50 years of holiday celebrations at her home; extraordinary cooking, baking, and candy making skills; and for her devotion to family, especially her children and grandchildren. She was passionate about family history and spent much time researching genealogy. She also meticulously maintained her home and property until her passing. Friends and family will be received from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Dunmyer Lutheran Church, 547 Schoolhouse Rd, Johnstown, PA, on Tuesday, June 8. A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. William Beck at 11:00 am on Wednesday June 9 at Dunmyer with friends received at 10:00 am until time of the service. In lieu of flowers please consider memorial contributions to Dunmyer Lutheran Church in Carole's name. Interment immediately following at Richland Cemetery. Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., is serving the Zucco family.
