Kist- Eugene A. 95 years old of Johnstown passed away peacefully with family around him on March 22, 2024 at Windber Woods Heath Care and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 16, 1928 in Johnstown. He was the son of the late Edward A. and Anna A. (Wiesheier) Kist. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers: Henry, Kenneth, Ralph, Donald and infant daughter Susie.
He was also preceded in death by his former spouse Lucille Kist. He is survived by his children: Doris (Michael) Cegelski, Edward (Ann) Kist, William (Cathy) Kist, Kenneth (Michael) Kist, John Lawhead, Mary Anne (Raymond) Forgas, Robert (Susan) Kist, and Delores (Chris) Hoffman. Also, survived by his grandchildren: Melanie (Dave) Weaver, John (Emily) Cegelski, Eric (Emily) Kist, Jenna, Kathryn, Albert and Summer Kist, Rebecca Kist, Angela (Jason) Oxford, Rita Saly, Ramond (Jody) Forgas, Quenna (Steve) Polonkey, Maggie (Joe) Heltzel, Bobbie Sue (Patrick) Callihan, Grace and Hope Edsall and Christopher (CJ) Hoffman. His great grandchildren: Grant, Clara and Harrison Weaver, Madison, Ashlyn and Bella Kist, Ellie Saly, Josephine Forgas, and Hayden Kelley. He is also survived by his former long-term partner Lois Allen. Eugene was a member of the United States Marine Corps during the World War II Era. He worked for many years for Bethlehem Steel in the Car Shop. He loved horses and for many years, had Sun-Kist Arabian Horses. He loved farm work and always had many animals. He was an excellent horse trainer. He was also known for his many auctions and multiple purchases, that a lot of his family received on their doorsteps or he added it to his collections at his homes. Also, in his older years, he talked to everyone about the dangers of agent orange exposure. He always stood up and fought for what he believed in, whether it was wrong or right. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. At Eugene's request, there will be no viewing. However, a memorial mass will be held 11:00 Tuesday at St. Gregory's Catholic Church.
